A family farmhouse is rejuvenated for generations to come.
This family farm went way back for one of the homeowners, who grew up in this home as a child and went on to raise his own family there. He and his wife had done several additions over the years as their family grew. However, now as the couple prepared to enter the “Empty Nester” stage of life, they realized many of their renovation decisions had been made to work with the existing house, and not necessarily based on their own design aesthetic. They decided to change that, and brought in AWD to redesign the main floor to function for the new season of life they were embarking on and to suit their aesthetic too!
The laundry-mudroom received the biggest transformation with an entire wall of custom millwork by Sun Valley Cabinets in a beautiful blue-grey colour. This brightened the formerly dark room and provided loads of functional storage for this hardworking, multi purpose space. In the en suite bathroom, we removed a large jetted tub and reconfigured the space to accommodate a new custom glass shower and beautiful new double vanity to match the laundry room built-ins. The former vanity - a piece built by Sun Valley Cabinets years ago - was high quality and still in near perfect condition, so we had the cabinet sprayed a warm white and relocated to the guest bathroom where we updated flooring with a patterned tile and new fixtures. Once again, the design decisions had their ripple effect (they always do!), but this time, the ripple effect was focused, intentional, and based on what the client loved!
